About the SRC
About Us
The Spartanburg Running Club was founded in 1989. The SRC is open to anyone interested in running. The SRC is a family-oriented, non-profit organization devoted to providing our members with the opportunity to meet and associate with others who are interested in running. Runners of all abilities are welcome, from beginner to the elite, competitive runner.
We have a club meeting each month (except during summer). These meetings allow club members to discuss club business and events, as well as socialize and listen to informative guest speakers. We also host a high school cross country awards banquet in November to recognize the achievements of our local student-athletes.
We encourage anyone interested in running to become a member!

Race Entry Fee Discounts
Spartanburg Running Club members can take advantage of discounted entry fees when registering for certain SRC races. Currently, discounted entry for members is available for the Turkey Day 8k ($10 discount), Gobble Your Giblets 5k ($10 discount), and Race for the Grasshopper 5k ($10 discount).
Supporting Running in the Community
The Spartanburg Running Club gives back to many organizations in the community. We donate to those groups who promote running and active living. Your membership helps the SRC support running-related programs in our area.
Each November, the club recognizes the top high school runners from the Spartanburg County Cross Country Championship with an awards banquet.
In May 2011, the SRC donated a freeze-proof drinking fountain to the City of Spartanburg. The fountain was placed at the East Henry Street end of the Mary Black Foundation Rail Trail for the benefit of all trail users.
SRC Newsletter "The Spartanburg Runner"
The Spartanburg Running Club newsletter is available to SRC members each month through e-mail and on the SRC website. The newsletter contains running news, interesting articles, race results, and information about SRC events. "The Spartanburg Runner" has twice been the recipient of the RRCA State Newsletter Award, in 1999 and 2007.
Group Runs
Get to know local runners and other SRC members at our many organized group runs! Our Summer Series runs are each Thursday evening in June and July around Duncan Park. Members can also join our Yahoo! Groups page to find and post group runs. It's a great tool to help you find training partners.
